Motorhome tour along the breathtaking fjords of Norway

Trier - Hamburg - Copenhagen - Gothenburg - Oslo - Andelsnes - Trollstigen - Geirangerfjord - Brikdalsbreen - Aurlandsvangen - Bergen - Trolltunga - Latefossen - Preikestolen - Stavanger - Kristiansand - Hirtshals - Hamburg - Trier

This motorhome tour through Norway is one of our ultimate favorites and brings you into the middle of the fascinating nature of Scandinavia. The road trip includes 4 countries: Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway and takes you past countless highlights such as viewing platforms, waterfalls, wild rivers, natural rock platforms, fjord landscapes and spectacular serpentine roads. The route along the Norwegian fjords begins at the viewing platform "Rampestreken" in Andelsnes, and leads you over the serpentine pass road "Trollstigen" to the world-famous Geirangerfjord. On the further stages you will meet the glacier formation "Brikdalsbreen", pass the "Stegastein" viewing platform near Aurlandsvangen and finally reach the second largest city in Norway, Bergen.

After a few days in the authentic coastal town you can decide whether you want to hike up the impressive "Trolltunga", a horizontal rocky outcrop in Norway, which is about ten kilometers northeast of Odda on the Sørfjord (the hike takes 10-12 hours!) Or better on the famous "Pulpit Rock", a natural rock platform with a wide view over the Lysefjord and the adjacent mountains (the hike there and back takes about 4 hours). Between the two hiking points you cross a bridge with your motorhome over the twin waterfall "Latefossen" and finally arrive at the end of the motorhome route in Stavanger, a pleasant town in southwest Norway.
We recommend the route from Trier via Hamburg, Copenhagen (over the Öresund Bridge to Malmö), Gothenburg and finally to Oslo. From here another stage of about 6 hours leads to the northernmost point of the route to Andelsnes.

On the way back we recommend the route from Stavanger to the southern tip of Kristiansand, from there you can take the ferry to Denmark and save a large part of the return journey. Arrived in Hirtshals (Northern Denmark), it's back to Trier via Hamburg.

Motorhome tour through southern Germany and the dreamy Alpine foothills

Trier - Strasbourg - Freiburg - Titisee - Rhine Falls - Lindau am Bodensee - Oberstdorf - Hopfensee - Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Starnberger See - Munich

Our next motorhome route suggestion for a motorhome tour through Europe leads you to mysterious lake landscapes, the most beautiful thermal baths in Germany, past mountain landscapes and crevices. The motorhome tour initially starts from Trier to the two capitals of the Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine regions as well as the Black Forest, Strasbourg and Freiburg. After a few days in the historic cities on the French and German side, you will soon pass the heart of the Black Forest, the Titisee. After a circumnavigation, you continue to the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen in Switzerland and from there to Lindau on Lake Constance. There are a number of thermal baths along the way, some even with a direct view of Germany's largest lake (e.g. Therme Meersburg). In the next stage destination, Oberstdorf, there is not only a World Cup ski jump to see but also a lot of activities such as hiking, climbing or skiing. The RV route continues to the idyllic Hopfensee, which is not far from what is perhaps the world's most famous German attraction, Neuschwanstein Castle near Füssen - a detour here is a must! Next you will pass the Zugspitze, the highest elevation in Germany with the Eibsee at its foot, a beautiful lake with a mountain panorama and great hiking opportunities, as well as the charming town of Garmisch Partenkirchen not far away. Here, not far from the ski jump, you get to the spectacular Partnach Gorge, a hiking trail in the valley cut into the rock along the shimmering turquoise Partnach. At the end of the trip you will reach the beautiful Bavarian capital Munich with its picturesque lakes in front of it, and there you can let the Bavarian life and food culture work its magic on you for a few days until you return to Trier via the motorway.

Motorhome tour through the beautiful Moselle valley and the Palatinate Forest

Trier - Bernkastel-Kues - Cochem - Eltz Castle (Wierschem) - Geierlay suspension bridge (Mörsdorf) - Mainz - Deidesheim - Neustadt an der Weinstrasse - Bad Bergzabern - Fischbach near Dahn - Trier

This motorhome route proposal leads you to the top addresses in the vicinity, including of course the most beautiful wine towns in Germany, mystical-looking castles, one of the longest suspension bridges in Germany and a lot of nature. As always, it starts in our beautiful Trier in the direction of Koblenz, we recommend turning immediately from Schweich onto the Moselstraße in the direction of Mehring. After just under an hour you will reach your first destination, the wine town of Bernkastel-Kues, which not only boasts countless wineries but also a medieval market square. On the next stage to Cochem we pass the small town of Bremm, here you should definitely plan a short stop at the vantage point with the best view of the Moselle loop. Cochem, which scores with its numerous well-preserved remains of the historic city walls, is another beautiful place on the Moselle, with its striking imperial castle, which towers majestically on a mountain cone 100m above the Moselle. Another even more famous castle called Burg Eltz can be reached after a further 30 minutes' drive, as well as after 35 minutes the suspension bridge Geierley, which with its 360m could call itself the longest suspension bridge in Germany until 2017. After this highlight we leave the Moselle and make a detour to our beautiful state capital Mainz on the way to the Palatinate Forest. Here you can stroll around the well-developed Rhine promenade and brighten up your day with a stroll through the picturesque old town of Mainz with its many small half-timbered houses. Then you can expect 100% Palatinate in the wine stronghold Deidesheim on the German Wine Route on the edge of the Palatinate Forest. Other well-known viewpoints nearby are Hambach Castle, a national memorial near Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, which is considered the cradle of German democracy, and Villa Ludwigshöhe Castle, which was the former summer residence of King Ludwig I of Bavaria.

At the end of the tour, there are two more absolute highlights just around the corner. On the one hand, there is the Südpfalz Therme in Bad Bergzabern on the Southern Wine Route, where you can review the many experiences and impressions of the trip and relax. The last stop on the route is the treetop path in Fischbach near Dahn. For 9 € pp (children 7 €) you can balance over suspension bridges, plate swings and thick parts at dizzying heights. There is also a falconry, a large children's playground, a biosphere house, a panorama restaurant and a large observation tower - this is where the entrance fee really pays off. From Fischbach it finally goes back to the home town of Trier via the A62 and the A1.
